GSTN Simplified Integration for E-commerce Operators with Unregistered Suppliers who wish supply through E-commerce Operators
The Goods and Services Tax Network (GSTN) has introduced a streamlined process for e-commerce operators (ECOs) through which unregistered suppliers can provide goods. This includes providing Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for ECOs to integrate with GSTN. These APIs are designed to validate demographic details of unregistered suppliers and aid in tracking and reporting their supplies.
APIs for E-commerce Operators
The APIs provided by GSTN offer a seamless way for e-commerce operators to integrate and collaborate with unregistered suppliers of goods. These APIs serve the following purposes:
i. Unregistered Applicants API: This API enables e-commerce operators to obtain the details of unregistered applicants by submitting their enrolment ID in the GET request.
ii. Unregistered Applicants Validation API: This API is designed to validate the mobile number and email ID associated with a specific enrolment ID.
Procedure for E-commerce Operators
For e-commerce operators looking to access and integrate these APIs efficiently, there are specific steps to follow:
i. GSP Contact: E-commerce operators should initiate contact with any GST Suvidha Provider (GSP) to gain access to the aforementioned APIs. It%u2019s important to note that these APIs are not publicly available for direct access.
ii. Authentication Token: To access these APIs, an authentication token must be obtained from the authentication API. You can find the API specifications in the developer portal, under "Public API > Authentication" at https://developer.gst.gov.in/apiportal/.
iii. Access via GSPs: To access public APIs, the authentication token should be acquired using the credentials of GSPs.
iv. API Specifications: The API specifications for both e-commerce APIs can be found on the developer portal under "Public API eComm operators" at https://developer.gst.gov.in/apiportal/.
v. Encoded Responses: It's important to note that the response from both APIs will be Base64 encoded, and no encryption is applied.
This initiative by GSTN aims to streamline and facilitate the integration process between e-commerce operators and unregistered suppliers of goods. By providing specific APIs and clear instructions on how to access them, GSTN seeks to promote ease of use and enhance collaboration between these parties. This development holds great potential to simplify trade, especially for unregistered suppliers and e-commerce operators.

GSTN has also provided APIs for ECOs (through whom unregistered persons can supply goods) to integrate with GSTN to obtain the details and facilitate the unregistered suppliers. The APIs are for validating the demographic details of the said suppliers and also for use in tracking and reporting supplies by such persons. The details of the APIs are as follows:-
a) The name of the APIs developed are :
1.Unregistered Applicants API : To get the details of Unregistered Applicant by passing the enrolment ID in the GET request
2.Unregistered Applicants Validation API: To validate the Mobile Number and Email ID of a Enrolment ID
b) The following is noteworthy for the e-Commerce operators in order to access and integrate the APIs successfully:
1. The e-Commerce operator should contact any GSP to access the above APIs as the APIs are not publically available.
2. To access these APIs Authentication Token should be obtained from the authentication API, the API specs are available at developer portal (https://developer.gst.gov.in/apiportal/) under Public API ? Authentication.
3. For accessing the public APIs the authentication token should be obtained by using the GSPs credentials.
4. The APIs specs for the two eComm APIs are available on developer portal (https://developer.gst.gov.in/apiportal/) under Public API eComm operators.
5. The response of both APIs will be Base64 encoded, no encryption is used.
